Yesterday during the meeting we talked about the Desktop for e-Research that uses Fedora as the repository platform. During the meeting, I found that this Desktop is identical to my Master research topic, Metadata File System (MDFS). For this new Desktop application, we are going to index the files found in the File System and the interface behaviour is looked like Picasa, so the user is able to select a folder to be indexed and all the children (folder and files) underneath it will be indexed. In MDFS we are using transducer to index the files. This will be a very cool project and I am looking forward to start to program. On the top level, user is able to search for their files, tags, make a comment and annotation or even share the metadata to other users.
